So...Food Storage?

My boyfriend's back, again!!! He got home last night. The babe and I picked him up at the airport. We like it!! Rebecca was in her monkey costume because I know how Jorg loves her in that (he's the one who did the "Halloween Preloaded" post). You can imagine she got lots of well-deserved attention from everyone around. Jorg had the camera packed away so unfortunately, no picture. But the Peachies was sooooooo happy to see him! She just perked right up, even though it was almost 11:00 and she had just woken up. She's entering into that "attachment" phase and cries when she goes to strangers so I thought she would take a minute to warm up to him. NOPE! She started smiling and playing with his face right away. It was so cute, I cried...

And I aLMOSt cried when I saw what Jorg's luggage was full of:

"Huh??? Honey? dear?? How is THIS stuff supposed to help me look good and feel great?" I'm on WeightWatchers online and I've lost 7 pounds so far. NOthing compared to the 40 more I will lose. (Yes I will, yes I will) ANd when Jorg unloaded everything, our entire counter was filled and overflowing with German chocolate, cakes, cookies, and candies. In EVERY variety. CHocolate. I LOVE chocolate. ANd this is not just any chocolate. THis is GERMAN chocolate. The best in the WORLD. I LOVE GERMANY!!!!!!!!!!!! ANd did i mention, I love chocolate? So, today is my day off work, Rebecca is asleep and this post is going on and on. But I have to keep typing or I fear I will just....eat chocolate!!!!!!!!! and marzipan! and gummy bears! and licorice! and Christmas cake! and...HELP!

P.S. We need more pictures of Jorg on this blog. He says he took some of our beautiful Germany and his mom and sisters who were all there at once! He surprised his mom (she was speechless!) who is there on vacation right now (we miss you, Omi). And he tried to surprise Berit but I accidently ruined the surprise, oops. ANyways, I hope he got a photo of everyone together (minus me, rebecca, and Jim still here in the states). ANd, I'm still typing...trying to resist the yummy temptations...Oh good, I think Rebecca is waking up...I have to leave this house!! aaaaaaaaaaaah!

Just As We Suspected...

We like it!! Isn't that fun? Emily (my sister-in-law) tried it out for us the other day. She saw it on her cousin's blog. They had a different result, so I just know this thing must be 100% accurate...I just know it! I want to try it out sometime with Rebecca's newborn photo. I think the result will be different, she was Jorg's twin in the hospital.

FALLin' in Love!

We are in love with our babe. And SHE is in love with leaves. I took her for walk on a leafy trail. I handed her one of the leaves. I thought for sure she would treat it like she does paper, instantly crushing it up and trying to eat it (as she is in
this picture). But our baby knew it was part of nature and treated it with such respect. She held it out to look it over and then held it up to her little cheek. I wished so badly I would've had my camera! She rode along in her stroller for a good 20 minutes like that. These are the pictures we took when we got back to my parent's house and she decided it was finally time to crush up that leaf and eat it.

P.S. Jorg is in Germany on business right now. He left Monday and will be home this Sunday. We miss him so, so, so, so, so much!!!!!

Halloween Preloaded

We got a nice Halloween monkey outfit for our girl. She did not look too happy in it. Maybe it is because she is not used to her big ears and tail, but we are sure she will love it when it is the Great Premiere:)

Pumpkin Surprise!

5

Rebecca's 5 months old! Here are the top 5 reasons we love our angel:
5. She sounds like a kitty when she whines.
4. She wakes up with the biggest smiles.
3. She snuggles when she's tired.
2. She's been cutting two teeth and has been so brave.
1. Every time she laughs, a fairy is born!

Aunt Steph

Steph and I had a sleepover while Jorg was gone. It was so great to be with my sissy. She's a super-duper auntie. She is even the one who first called Rebecca, Peachies! Thanks for hanging out with us, Steph!

Peachies mostly cried in this video clip, and it's kind of long, but really funny too (at least her parents think so :)

CHIN WAH

I was talking to Jorg on the phone and told him we were eating at a Mexican Restaurant called Chin Wah for ladies night (during Priesthood session on Saturday). It took me a second and the help of my mom to realize my mistake. So, here are Mar, Rebecca, Aunt Soogie, and Mel eating Chinese at this great Mexican Restaurant!
My mommy, auntie Heather, and Grandma were there too :) My cute grandma (96 years old) made us laugh when she asked why we were eating in a "railway car". I guess it was a pretty narrow room...

My Boyfriend's Back 2

"He's been gone for such a long ti-ime." And I felt all giddy, just like on our wedding day, when he finally walked in our door.

St. Croix

I have never heard of an island St Croix, but now I have fallen in "love" with the beauty of this region. This picture is from my camera and my friend Shane took it.
It is hard to describe how beautiful this island is: Rain Forrest, billions of stars at night and the noise of millions of bugs and frogs at night and of course the riffs are incredible.
However it would have been much more fun with my family. Hopefully next time!

Thanks Aunty Em!

Aunt Emily and Uncle Jon babysat for us several weeks ago, and Em took these pictures...and more... They're so fun! I love the tongue sticking out on the middle one! I copied and stole this collage from Em's Blog.

She emailed me the pictures, but they're such great quality, I've yet to figure out how to get them on the blog. OH, how I miss Jorg. HE would be able to do it! He will return to us on Thursday. * Counting down the days *

Rebecca likes food too!

She's been practicing with solids for about 3 weeks. It's pretty entertaining.

We like Pizza!

Here are some pictures from last week. I dedicate this post to pizza, burgers, and bowling!

We ate at The Pie (first introduced to me by Kato Sloan) with Michael and Kristin. Hello! We ordered the LARGE pizza?!? It was so darn yummy.

Here I am with my "Baconator Boy" having some fun at Wendy's.

"Huggies" at the bowling ally in Brigham City.

My boyfriend's back!

"Hey la, hey la...my boyfriend's back!" We missed him so much. He got back last Saturday. Fortunately, he did a great job "representin'. Unfortunately, he did such a great job they want him back for the second tour starting tomorrow. He'll be gone for another week! This time he gets to go to the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Poooooor boy! He'll be nice and warm enjoying the beaches. Who knows where they'll send him next. The good news is that tours should be done by the end of October. I plan to join him one of these times. Well, as they say...absence makes the heart grow fonder!

Twins!

The morning of the sleepover with my fabulous cousin Mel, I broke an egg and found a double yoked egg....twins!

Aunty Viv!

There is a grocery store in California called Vons. I was on a road trip there with my Sloan cousins a couple of years ago. Somehow decided to call Mel, Princess VonsIsValue. I know, you wish it were your nickname too :)

She decided Rebecca will call her Aunty Viv (short for VonsIsValue). We had a sleepover while Jorg was out of town. Here are the pictures she took.

"Mirror, mirror, on the wall...."

Memories with Mimi!

My mom's pink umbrella stoller set sail for it's maiden voyage the other night! She and I strolled the Peachies around their neighborhood. We were enjoying the quickly fading "walkable weather".

I noticed those perfect pink wheels. They had no scuff marks. No black smudges. But also, no stories to tell. By the time we made it back to the house, the wheels has some scratches and a few black spots. And I can't wait to hear the stories they will tell!

Trivani Tour: Days 3 and 4

Tennessee
I found some Tennessee trivia here.

Question: What do Kenny Chesney, Shannen Doherty, and Davy Crockett have in common?

Answer: They were all born in Tennessee of course! (Elder Aldrich loves Kenny Chesney. I miss him. He has 8 more months in Southern Texas.)

Jorg took this picture! wow, that's purdy. He told me they talk really "funny" there and tried to imitate them. It didn't work real well, with his German accent and all. But I love him for trying!

Did you know that 3 former U.S. Presidents called Tennessee their home? It's true! The great state of Tennessee has a long history of political greatness.
Andrew Jackson served 1829-1837
James K. Polk served 1845-1849

He's having a great time (yay) and he will be home in 36 hours (double yay)! He drove to West Virginia today for some meetings, but will return to the hotel in Tennessee for the night. Tomorrow he will fly to North Carolina.

Capitol Greetings

Greetings from Back East. The Trivani Tour has been amazing.
Washington D.C. is a great place. The birthplace of the nation has left an deep impression on me. After seeing the Capitol, Washington Monument, The White House and the Abraham Lincoln Memorial I felt that "this country is my home" like I have never felt before. It is hard to describe, but I felt that my late father Juergen would have loved the tour in Wash. DC.
He was always interested in USA history and knew it better than anyone else I know.

I had the very strong impression that the nation has been founded on good principles.

Even though US international politics can be quite controversial, no one can deny that the world would have been a different place without the "Founding Fathers". Many key inventions (except German Cars ;)) were invented here and many many people worldwide have been fed by the fruits and grains of this nation. Including my own family on both sides after World War II.

Soon I will take my beautiful and amazing "American Wife" and OUR German-American co-production Rebecca to all the museums in Washington ;) maybe not all, but I am sure we will be back.

Happy 25th, Brother!

"Hi bruther!" That's how I answer when Jon Martin Aldrich Jr. is on the phone. Jorg can tell it's Jon because I call Joel "Kitten" and Lane is on a mission. Just want to let you know how much I love you, Jon! You're like...an older brother to me...even though you're younger. I really look up to you as the kind of person I'd like to be someday. Especially because I'm:
Jealous of your muscles and year-round tan! You're
Open, honest, and kind. And you're the type of person who's
Never tardy. Especially for your bed time (hehehe)

Thanks for being my "Fwadge and Fifi".

XOXOXOXO

Jon and Em showing off the b-day presents:

Rebecca at the party. I bought this outfit at the Gymboree sale for Em and Jon's baby (they're expecting) but just HAD to see how it looked on Rebecca. Ahoy maytees!

Trivani Tour: Day 2

Washington D.C.

We all know that D.C. stands for District of Columbia. But I didn't realize that Columbia is an early poetic name for the United States, stemming from the name of that famous explorer, Christopher Columbus. Cool! Hey, did he have anything to do with the country in South America? OH, I just looked it up and the country is spelled, Colombia. Yah, I knew that...

I have two cousins who live in D.C.

This is Christopher with his wife Amber and their adorable baby girl, Olivia. She was born on July 22nd. I haven't met this baby-girl yet, but I know she and Rebecca will be good friends. I get so happy when I get to see pictures of her.

And here's my cousin Peter with his mom (Aunt Kay). (Sorry Pete, this is the only picture I could find on my computer.) I don't have a picture of his new wife, Laura. But they are just so great together and happy newlyweds. They were married when I was still in the hospital with Rebecca: April 28th. Maybe Jorg will run into you guys!! Sad that he didn't get time to arrange lunch or something.

They also have a National Mall in D.C. I was surprised, when I visited for the first time in 2001, to find it wasn't a shopping area. "The Mall" is actually the grounds between the Lincoln Memorial and the Capitol. But you knew that, of course.

Jorg had a little time to play around today and got to see the White House and the Capitol. Too bad he won't get to see any of the museums or monuments, but we will visit as a family someday. Tomorrow he will be in Tennessee. We like it!

I Heart Daddy by: Rebecca

Hi there! My daddy is gone away on a business trip and I miss him. I want to show you a few things I like to do with my dad.
He taught me how to hold my own bottle!

He reads me stories.

We both have dimples. See!

His face is my favorite toy! While dad is gone, I get to play with my mom, Mimi, Papa, and Uncle Joel at the Aldriches house. They are trying to keep me busy so I don't get too sad. I spoke with dad on the phone and I really smiled big when I heard his voice. I miss you, daddy!
