Rapunzel's magical hair

She has been doing this lately, where she attaches things to her bow to make herself into Rapunzel with her "magic hair".
Scenes like this from my little family make me realize.  I am living the dream!  They are so cute :)  I love how she has her little hand on his cheek.
Caution:  extreme close-up!

September 28, 2011

Was a special day for us. It was the day of Jorg's swearing-in ceremony! He had been counting down the days, ever since he found out the date, which was about 40 days.
The ceremony was not as BORING (hehe) as we thought it would be! It was actually pretty neat. The judge had several of the immigrants stand and tell their stories about what they had been through to get their citizenship and the reasons they wanted to be an American citizen. Some of the people came from countries where they felt unsafe all the time. And where the had little or no opportunities to provide for their families and pursue their dreams. Of course, that is not the case for Jorg! He comes from a beautiful wonderful country! I asked Jorg what he would have said, if they would have called on him. He would've told about the dream he had when he was 4 years old. In that dream, he was living here in the states. When he woke up, he knew he would live in America someday! And about how it was a dream of his father's to come here too.
Now I am outnumbered by those two who are American and Germans. Maybe someday I will be both, too.
It was so great having my parents there. I just love them.
We went to P.F. Chang's for lunch to celebrate.
Here is our attempt at a family portrait. Jorg didn't want to sit and get his suit dirty. And we couldn't get the flag out of Rebecca's hand. Oh well!
Jorg wanted Rebecca to always remember this day, so he took her to the toy section at Walmartand told her to pick whatever Barbie she wanted!! She picked out this pink princess Barbie! Lucky little one.

Alpine Loop

One Sunday in September, Rebecca and I went with my dad and Ben Montgumery on a drive on the Alpine Loop. It was sooo pretty! Rebecca usually wears her pajamas on Sundays, so here the p.j.'s she picked:

We went on a little hike.

We also celebrated Jon's Birthday on September 14th with my whole fam (minus Jorg)!

Autumn in Sundance

I'm so glad we made it up to the mountains this fall.  We took a Saturday afternoon to ride the chair lift at Sundance.  Then we hiked around across the top of the mountain, for about 2hours, before we rode back down.  Rebecca is such a good hiker.  I'm always impressed with her.  She is very adventurous.

My handsome eternal boyfriend:

She liked to lead the way and give us instructions about where we should step and when we should "leap"  or take small steps.

She looked for walking sticks the whole time and "traded up" every time she found a better one.

I took over 200 pictures, the scenery was so amazing.
We ate our snack and drank our capri sun drinks at the table.

Stats on her little library

We collected all the books from around the house (her room, our room, play room, family room, living room) so we could count and sort them. And I had planned to get rid of some too. But...books...they become old friends! And are, therefore, hard to part with!! We got rid of 8. Yes, 8...out of 240!

48 Disney books
67 Books to read-aloud
66 Non-Fiction
18 Board Books
10 Phonics Books
14 Other

I'm so happy that she loves books! She can even read some of the words already. I think (hope) she will always love reading.

She Couldn't Be Cuter!

And she could not be more excited to be starting school again!  Wow.  Summer flew by (doesn't it always)  and it was wonderful.  Here is one of my status updates from facebook in mid-July:  heard from the back seat on the way home from Seven Peaks (waterpark) this afternoon: "Momma? What fun are we going to NOW? Are we on the way to a party?" I had to laugh. Can you tell we're having a fun summer?
But here we are and it's time to start school again.  She had her last first day of preschool!  Since she will be in Kindergarten next year!  Taylor and Mason are in Kindergarten and she likes to wait for the bus with them.
Shoes on the wrong feet?!  Too silly!
I'm excited about this year too.  We're doing a neighborhood co-op again.  I like being involved in her preschool and I like that I don't have to be in charge every week!  There are four of us, so we each take one week out of the month.  We have school on Tuesday, Thursday, and then Friday we let the kids play or we'll take field trips.  We have a darling group of kids Rebecca, Brooklyn, Max, and Jamison.  We had a couple of meetings and several emails over the summer planning our year.  These gals are organized!  We already have the whole year mapped out.

She had a fantastic first day of school (at Miss Heather's).  She was excited to sing me some of the songs she learned.  And she said she was proud of herself for being a good listener and that the best thing was that she had
recess!
it's already her favorite subject :)
I asked her what momma should do while she was at school for two hours.  She said, "well, that's up to you!  I'm sure you can think of something!"
