Was a special day for us. It was the day of Jorg's swearing-in ceremony! He had been counting down the days, ever since he found out the date, which was about 40 days.
The ceremony was not as BORING (hehe) as we thought it would be! It was actually pretty neat. The judge had several of the immigrants stand and tell their stories about what they had been through to get their citizenship and the reasons they wanted to be an American citizen. Some of the people came from countries where they felt unsafe all the time. And where the had little or no opportunities to provide for their families and pursue their dreams. Of course, that is not the case for Jorg! He comes from a beautiful wonderful country! I asked Jorg what he would have said, if they would have called on him. He would've told about the dream he had when he was 4 years old. In that dream, he was living here in the states. When he woke up, he knew he would live in America someday! And about how it was a dream of his father's to come here too.Now I am outnumbered by those two who are American and Germans. Maybe someday I will be both, too.
It was so great having my parents there. I just love them.
We went to P.F. Chang's for lunch to celebrate.
Here is our attempt at a family portrait. Jorg didn't want to sit and get his suit dirty. And we couldn't get the flag out of Rebecca's hand. Oh well!
Jorg wanted Rebecca to always remember this day, so he took her to the toy section at Walmartand told her to pick whatever Barbie she wanted!! She picked out this pink princess Barbie! Lucky little one.
We Like It!!
