My sister passed away 27 years ago. She would have been 33 this year! I think of her often. I know that she is part of our family for eternity and she loves us. It's hard for us to cultivate a relationship with her while she is on the other side. Elder Scott mentioned in his latest conference talk that we can have a relationship with those who have passed away when we always remember that we will see them again. My Rebecca is named after my sister, who went by "Becky". I think that's pretty special. Becky's birthday is April 16th. We sent up some balloons to her and visited the cemetery that day.
